Working with a Manchester based developer, SASA developed a proposal to bring a boutique hotel operator to this 18th century building in the heart of the City and use restorative development ideas to bring a much loved building back into everyday use. Rebuilding the rear part of the building, a later 1950’s addition and re-working internal levels, provided a platform for 40 boutique bedrooms over four levels. The subordinate new build element complements the formative masculine original which faces onto the square in terms of mass and proportions and sets the building adjacent to the Castle.
